What is the most expensive kind of watch?

In 2015, "WatchTime" magazine considers the world's most expensive watch to be the A. Lange & Söhne Grand Complication, at a cost of approximately $2,497,00 in U.S. dollars. The German luxury watch manufacturer makes fewer than 5,000 watches a year and only six of the Grand Complication exist.

Only one person in the world can make the Grand Complication, and each watch entails one year of full-time work to make. It has 876 parts, all made by hand. The watchmaker selects the owner from a list of potential buyers.

The company was founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Lange and is now owned by the founder's great-grandson Walter.
