Why do we experience day and night?

Day and night are experienced as the Earth rotates around the sun on its axis. It takes the Earth 24 hours to make one complete spin, and it rotates at a rate of approximately 1,367 miles per hour.

The Earth spins smoothly and continuously at the same speed, but because of the Earth’s gravitational pull, this movement is not felt. Whenever a part of the Earth is facing the sun, that region is experiencing daytime while the other side of the earth is experiencing nighttime. The sun does not move, even though it seems to move from east to west. The spinning of the Earth on its axis gives the appearance that the sun is moving.
