Factor V deficiency, a rare clotting disorder, is similar to hemophilia but sufferers do not experience bleeding in joints, according to MedlinePlus. People with Factor V deficiency lack a blood coagulation factor called Factor V.
Factor V deficiency may be inherited or caused by an antibody produced as a result of childbirth, fibrin glue treatment and certain cancers or autoimmune diseases. Symptoms of Factor V deficiency include bleeding into the skin, bleeding gums, bruising, nosebleeds and excessive bleeding after a surgery or injury, explains MedlinePlus. Doctors treat Factor V deficiency disorder with blood plasma transfusions, which temporarily correct the disorder.
