What is the "Babywise" method?
By Forinfos - 05/04/2026 - 0 comments
The Babywise method is a regimented newborn schedule for feeding, sleeping and playing. The method is outlined in the 1993 book "On Becoming Baby Wise: Giving Your Infant the Gift of Nighttime Sleep" by Robert Bucknam and Gary Ezzo.
The Babywise approach is based on the premise of feeding a newborn on a specific schedule as opposed to the conventional on-demand approach. The authors indicate the method instills a sense of predictability and security in newborns, and one of the benefits is that newborns learn to sleep through the night more quickly. Some pediatricians believe the method is too harsh and disciplined for a newborn, and dehydration is a possible risk of scheduled feedings.
