When can a baby survive outside of the womb?
By Forinfos - 25/01/2026 - 0 comments
A baby born from 23 to 32 weeks has a chance of surviving outside of the womb, while babies born before 23 weeks have little to no chance of surviving, as noted by Healthline. A baby born between weeks 23 and 28 will need considerable help to survive, including assistance with breathing and feeding.
Premature births happen for a variety of reasons and doctors do have ways to try to prevent early delivery on a woman who is going into labor before her 35th week. Medicines and bed rest can help prevent an early delivery, but advanced technology in neonatal intensive care units can help to keep a baby alive until it's developed enough to survive on its own.
