What is the recipe for infant nasal saline solution?

To make an infant nasal saline solution, put a pinch of salt, not to exceed one-quarter teaspoon, into eight ounces of warm water. To administer, place a few drops into each nostril with a plastic eyedropper and lay the infant down with its head lower than its body.

This position allows the solution to loosen the nasal mucus and stimulate a sneeze. When the infant sneezes, the secretions move to the front of the nose where they can be sucked out with a nasal aspirator. Aspirate the nose several times to remove the mucus and clean the aspirator with warm, soapy water afterwards.
