Abbas Ibn Firnas, Abiathar Crescas and Abu al-Qasim al-Zahrawi are famous doctors of Spanish descent, according to Ranker. Firnas, who topped Ranker's Famous Physicians of Spain list, was not only a doctor, but also an Arabic-language poet, an inventor, an engineer and an Andalusian musician.

Crescas, who ranks second on Ranker.com's list of Famous Physicians of Spain, was a physician and astrologer from the Crown of Aragon during the 15th century. He was known for removing cataracts through a method called couching and is notable for helping restore the eyesight of King John. Abu al-Qasim al-Zahrawi, who ranks fourth on the list, is regarded as the one of the greatest Islamic medieval surgeons and is considered by many as the father of modern surgery.
