How fast can a panther run?

A panther can run up to 35 miles per hour. However, it only achieves this speed when running short distances. Panthers must pace themselves in order to travel up to 20 miles per day.

Panthers typically reserve running for hunting purposes. Even while hunting, panthers use stealth over speed whenever possible. With territories covering up to 250 square miles, they tend to rest during much of the day in order to conserve energy for hunting and running at night.

In addition to running, panthers are also able to swim. Some panthers even travel across swamps and lakes by wading and swimming.
