The fastest military helicopter is the Russian Mi-35M, in spite of its size. This military helicopter is capable of flying at speeds of up to 310km/h, although it typically cruises at 260km/h.

The Mi-35M was designed to replace the aging Mi-24 HIND. It has a maximum range of 460km, and can be armed with a mixture of rockets, missiles and additional .23mm gun pods. Although the Mi-35m was designed as a troop support and transport helicopter, it also does double duty as a ground attack platform. Typical of most Russian military helicopters, it favors armor and sheer firepower over advanced weapons technology.
