Brass is a bright gold metal that is more malleable than zinc or bronze. It is often used in musical instruments because of its acoustic properties. The softness of the metal makes it a good option when an alloy is required that has a minimal chance of sparking. Because brass is easy to cast, it oftentimes used in manufacturing plumbing fittings.
