Who was the fattest known person in the world?

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the fattest person in history as of 2014 was American John Brower Minnoch. At his heaviest, he weighed more than 1,400 pounds.

Minnoch had to be admitted to the hospital because his heart could no longer support his body at its extreme weight. He had to be transported by ferry boat and required two beds when he arrived. Eventually, he lowered his weight to 476 pounds by following a special medically supervised diet. His struggle with weight continued, however, and included more hospitalization. By the time he died in September 1983, Minnoch weighed 800 pounds.
