How do you feed alfalfa cubes to a horse?
By Forinfos - 18/03/2026 - 0 comments
Most horses can eat dry alfalfa cubes straight from the bag. Horses that have a history of choke, young horses and older horses who may have trouble chewing the hard cubes should only be fed soaked alfalfa cubes.
To soak alfalfa cubes, pour cold or warm water over them, and let them soak until they reach the desired consistency. Some horses prefer them just slightly softened, and others prefer them soaked to a soupy consistency. Alfalfa cubes are popular with horse owners because although 1 pound of alfalfa cubes is equivalent to 1 pound of hay, because alfalfa cubes are compressed, they take up much less space than hay.
