What do you feed a baby canary?

A nutritious bird hand feeding formula, such as Kaytee, fed by syringe is the best food for baby canaries and other baby birds. After feeding formula to the baby bird for a few days, add a nestling food that consists of soft seeds, egg, greens, carrots and rolled oats. The baby bird can eat the formula and nestling food together.

A canary owner should only need to feed a baby canary if the hen dies or for some reason refuses to feed it. Frequent feeding is necessary to give the baby the vitamins and nutrients it needs for healthy growth and development. A healthy baby canary has a voracious appetite and continues to grow until it only eats dry seed.
