Several ferries go to Martha's Vineyard, including the Steamship Authority, which is a year-round passenger and automobile ferry from Woods Hole, Massachusetts. The 7-mile trip takes 40 minutes and runs daily. The ferry lands at Vineyard Haven, Martha's Vineyard, throughout the year, plus Oak Bluffs during the summer.

There are several additional ferries that run seasonal service to Martha's Vineyard. For example, Hy-line Cruises provides service from Hyannis on Cape Cod to Oak Bluffs. Passengers can choose either a high-speed or traditional ferry trip. SeaStreak offers a 50-minute ferry trip from New Bedford, Massachusetts, to the island. It also provides service from New York, which takes five hours.
