Are ferry rates cheaper if you have a motorcycle instead of a car?

Ferry rates for motorcycles are typically 40 to 50 percent cheaper than the average cost of a car, as a standard motorcycle occupies less space on board. Most ticket prices include the motorcycle and driver, as illustrated on the WSDOT.wa.gov site's ferry fare information pages and on SouthportTimes.com.
Some ferry companies, such as the Black Ball Ferry Line that operates between British Columbia and Washington State, charge extra for a motorcycle sidecar or trailer. A motorized tricycle and trailer fare can cost the same as the fare for an average car. Canadian company East Coast Ferries Ltd. adds a fuel surcharge to all passenger vehicles, including motorcycles.
