The fireballs on the Mekong River are referred to as the Naga Fireballs or Mekong Lights. These are glowing reddish balls that allegedly shoot up from the water and travel high into the air. They are seen for a few hundred meters, and then they disappear.
The Naga Fireballs are typically seen in October on the Mekong River located in Southeast Asia, primarily in Thailand. In some years, there are thousands of fireballs seen shooting high into the sky. In other years, there are only about 30 of them reported. Naga refers to a mythical creature similar to a giant snake.
