As of July 2014, first class postage in the United States is 49 cents for a 1-ounce letter. Businesses may get a reduced rate of 38.1 cents from the U.S. Postal Service.

First class package service begins at $1.42 for business customers. Standard non-first class mail for businesses can be priced as low as 15.3 cents per ounce. Direct mail, which many people think of as "junk mail," starts at 17.5 cents per piece. Flat-rate Priority Mail begins at $5.60 per ounce for regular customers and $5.05 per ounce for business customers. Priority Mail Express, which provides overnight service, starts at $11.16 per ounce.
