The oldest musical instrument is the bone flute and this instrument dates back 40,000 years. The assembly of bird bones are responsible for this ancient instrument.
The mouthpiece of the bone flute has a V-shape and there are five holes for the fingers. A griffon vulture's wing bones make the body of the flute because they are naturally hollow. The original flute is approximately 13 inches in length and 0.3 inches wide. Researchers say that the invention of this ancient flute is likely due to ancient humans trying to strengthen social bonds and finding a new way to communicate with each other.
