The first video game ever made was "Tennis for Two." It was created in 1958 by physicist William Higinbotham. He designed the game on a small analog computer. Technician Robert Dvorak built the device in less than two weeks. It was operated by turning a knob and pushing a button.
The game display showed two lines. One represented the net and the other the ground. The ball was a moving dot on the screen. Players adjusted the angle of the ball by turning the knob. Hitting the ball involved pushing the button at the right time. "Tennis for Two" was retired after two years.
