What was the first koala sanctuary?

The world's first and largest, as of 2014, koala sanctuary is the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. It was established in 1927 and is located in Brisbane, Australia.

The 11-acre koala sanctuary houses 130 koalas and 100 species of other native Australian animals including snakes, kangaroos and platypuses. Visitors can visit the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to see all of the animals and view live animal shows.

The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is one of the only sanctuaries in the world where visitors are allowed to hold koalas for free. The staff enforces strict guidelines to ensure each koala does not get held for more than 30 minutes every day.
