What is a fishtail braid?

A fishtail braid is a type of hair plaiting in which hair is braided together. It is similar to a French braid, but it usually begins closer to the base of the skull rather than in the middle of the head.

To make a fishtail braid, split the hair into two sections. Take a small piece from the outside of one section and cross it over the hair to add to the opposite section. Repeat the process with the other section of hair. Continue alternating sides until the braid is complete, then secure the end with a tie or rubber band.
