How do you fix a squeaky bed?

Squeaks are usually caused by one surface rubbing against another within the joints of the bed frame. You may need a screwdriver or a wrench to disassemble the squeaking joint and paraffin or candle wax to lubricate the contact surfaces.
- Identify which joint is squeaking
Remove the mattress and box springs. Take hold of the headboard or footboard, and gently rock the entire frame, listening for which corner of the frame seems to be squeaking the most.
- Disassemble the squeaky joint
Depending on the type of joints used on the bed frame, you may need a screwdriver or a wrench. Remove all screws or bolts, and set them aside.
- Apply paraffin to all surfaces that might be rubbing together within the joint
Apply a light coat of paraffin to the end of the bed rail and any hooks or other surfaces where one piece of the frame might be rubbing against another. If paraffin is unavailable, a light coat of candle wax makes a good substitute.
- Reassemble the joint and test again
Eliminating the most conspicuous squeak may reveal the location of other squeaks. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for any other joints that are squeaking.
