Does Florida's homestead protection include cars?

Florida's homestead protection does not include cars, as the laws only relate to an owned home. There are three criteria that the property must meet in order to be covered under the homestead protection laws. These criteria relate to ownership, residency and timely application of homestead protection.

The owner must have clear title, and the property must be a primary residence. In addition, an application for protection must be made between Jan. 1 and March 1 at the assessor's office. After the application has been filed, protection can only change if the home's status is no longer a primary residence.
