What are the followers of Buddhism called?

People who practice Buddhism are called Buddhists, and they are divided into two groups: ordained monks and lay-people. The ordained monks practice their religion with extreme dedication and teach others about Buddhism while the lay-people have families, work for a living and live their lives according to Buddhist teachings.

Buddhism is based on the teachings of Buddha, who was seen as an enlightened teacher. He taught people not to look to gods to end their suffering, but that when individuals do bad things, the result will be bad. When individuals choose to do good and eliminate greed, hatred and ignorance, they enter into peace and an end of suffering.
