Nestle makes Toll House chocolate chip cookies. The recipe for Toll House cookies was invented in 1936 by Ruth Graves Wakefield who added semi-sweet chocolate by Nestle to her butter drop dough cookies. The Toll House name is from the Inn that Wakefield ran with her husband, Terry.
After the invention, she contacted Nestle and made a deal that allowed the company to publish the recipe on the back of its chocolate. In return, Wakefield received a lifetime supply of chocolate. As of 2015, her recipe is still on the back of every bag of Toll House Morsels sold today.
