What is a substitute for Sazon Goya?

When making a Sazon Goya substitute, thyme or basil can be substituted for oregano. Chili powder can be substituted for the cumin. Tumeric or paprika can stand in for the achiote seeds if they are not readily available.

The Sazon Goya mixture contains salt, pepper, garlic, cumin, oregano and achiote seeds. Any combination of 1 tablespoon of each of these ingredients produces a flavor similar to Sazon Goya. If desired, any of these spices can be left out of the mixture. Goya also sells variations of the original spice mixture that incorporate extra amounts of one ingredient or add ingredients to the original combination, so adding and subtracting ingredients can be done to personal taste.
