Wheat germ is the nucleus of the wheat plant. It is the part of the wheat kernel containing the most minerals and vitamins and thus is responsible for providing the growing wheat plant with nourishment.
Wheat germ is a recommended superfood packed with beneficial nutrients for the body. These include protein, fiber, B vitamins, healthy fatty acids, minerals and vitamin E. Health benefits range from reducing bad cholesterol and lowering the risk of heart disease to balancing blood glucose levels and managing diabetes. In addition to this, a different form of wheat germ called "fermented wheat germ" has also been shown to be effective in cancer and arthritis treatment.
