Some foods that improve vision include bell peppers, carrots, kale, spinach and blueberries. Other foods include sweet potatoes, turkey, wild salmon and chia seeds because they are rich in vitamins A, C and E. They also have fatty acids, lutein and zinc, which help to promote eye health, says VSP.
Studies show that a diet that includes a high amount of fruits and vegetables and a low amount of saturated fat and sugars is most beneficial to eye health, according to VSP. Eye doctors suggest eating increased amounts of vitamins A, C, and E as well as the minerals zinc and selenium. This combination of vitamins and minerals helps to protect the retina and to reduce the risk of advanced AMD.
