Do football players wear cups?

Football players generally do not wear cups for comfort and to make running easier. Cups make players feel restricted. For the most part, the groin area is off limits during play, so the danger of injury is not as high as some people might think.

Cup movement during play is a major concern for football players. For example, bending to get into a certain stance could be painful if the player were wearing a protective cup. There is also the chance that a cup could slide to the side after a major hit and end up pinching a sensitive area.
