Does the Ford F-150 have an aluminum body?

Ford F-150 trucks have an aluminum body wrapped around a steel frame for strength and durability, as of 2015. Ford claims that the use of aluminum in the truck's body and bed reduces the vehicle's weight by 700 pounds.

The manufacturer credits the new construction materials with the truck's increased fuel efficiency and payload. The downside to the design is that it can be much more expensive to repair following an accident than a comparable steel-frame model. The body shop must have special tools and training to perform aluminum body repairs, so many of them charge a higher hourly rate for aluminum repairs.
