Grimco Inc. was named for and founded by William Grimm in 1875. The company was originally known as Grimm Stamp and Badge, but changed its name in 1970 to reflect the full suite of services offered.
When Grimco was first introduced, it primarily produced badges for both the police and fire department. Eventually Grimm turned the attention of the company towards production of traffic signs, and in the 1950s, Grimco revolutionized the industry with the introduction of silk-screened signs. In the 1980s Grimco branched out from traffic signs and began selling signs to companies and distributors, and eventually expanded its inventory to include materials for purchasers to build signs of their own.
