Bavarian Autosport was founded by Dave Wason, Mark Ruddy and Peter Robart in Stratham, New Hampshire in 1974. The three former college buddies still own and operate Bavarian Motorsport in 2015, according to the BavAuto website.
Dave Wason, Peter Robart and Mark Ruddy were college students and BMW enthusiasts who worked on foreign cars in their spare time. They started selling BMW parts out of a garage in 1974. In 1978, they moved operations to a larger facility in Newmarket, New Hampshire. The first Bavarian Autosport mail-order catalog went out in 1983. In 2015, the company mails out more than 1.5 million BMW and MINI parts catalogs every year.
