A four-cycle trimmer offers a larger cutting swath than a two-cycle variety, up to 18 inches wide. These trimmers also offer options such as a brush-cutting package with handlebars, a blade and shoulder straps. Four-cycle trimmers are more costly, though, averaging $300 and higher compared to a price tag of less than $200 for most two-cycle options.
