What is a frame in bowling?

A frame is a bowling term referring to the two attempts a player has per turn to knock down all 10 pins. A complete game consists of 10 frames.

If a bowler knocks down all 10 pins on his first attempt of the frame, he scores a strike. He does not roll again during that turn, but he gets 10 points for the first turn plus the total of his next two rolls as his score for that frame. If it takes both turns to knock down the 10 pins, he is awarded with a spare. His score for that frame is equal to 10 points plus the number of pins he knocks down on his next roll. If the bowler fails to knock down all the spins in two attempts, his score for that frame is the number of pins he does topple.
