A franchise owner, also known as a franchiser, has the proprietary knowledge, rights and trademarks of an individual business entity. The owner can give rights to the business to another party, known as the franchisee, to operate an additional branch of the business for a fee and profit percentage.

Becoming a franchise owner is a good idea for a well-established business that can grow across a variety of markets. Owners have the opportunity to earn passive income by granting rights to franchisees but must do their due diligence before offering rights to franchisees. Franchise owners also have to monitor the overall performance and quality of existing franchise locations closely for brand consistency.
