The federal school code list for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, is updated on the first of February, May, August and November, according to Data.gov. The school codes are used by students to indicate which colleges should receive their financial aid applications.
Students can search for school codes at Fafsa.ed.gov or obtain the school code by calling the financial aid office at a college of interest. Some schools have multiple codes designating different campuses, and codes may change depending on the academic year for which aid is desired, according to FinAid.org. Students can designate up to ten college or university codes on the FAFSA.
