How frequently are the lists of retired U.S. Navy personnel updated?

The U.S. Navy's Official Military Personnel File, or OMPF, includes all details about members of the U.S. Navy, including their retirement statuses, and is updated in its online format on an ongoing basis. Records of personnel who served before 1995 are digitized and added to this online resource continually.

Because the lists of Navy personnel are continually updated, there is rarely any delay in changes of status, such as retirement, being recorded. However, updating a single record, such as the OMPF, does not automatically update other Navy systems, such as the Electronic Service Record, so retirees should check that all of their records are accurate as soon as possible.
