The Fresh Market grocery store chain was established on March 5, 1982 when the first Fresh Market store was opened in Greensboro, North Carolina. The company was founded by Ray and Beverly Berry who wanted to open a smaller kind of grocery store that focused on the customer's experience.
The Fresh Market is an open-air market that sells fresh meats, seafood, vegetables, fruits and other grocery items. Produce at The Fresh Market is local and organic. The atmosphere of these grocery stores is designed to be inviting, pleasant and comfortable for shoppers. Currently, The Fresh Market has 168 stores in 27 states.
