Why is my fridge not working?

A refrigerator may not be cooling because the compressor may not be running or the electricity may be out. If interior lights are out in the refrigerator, a breaker may have been tripped and needs to be reset.

Controls inside the refrigerator may have been turned off or turned down. Additionally, various parts can malfunction, including the fan motor, the thermostat, the defrost system and the control board. Water leaking from the refrigerator may indicate that a drain tube has become clogged. Perishable food remaining in the refrigerator after it has ceased to function can become dangerous to consume and should be thrown out.
