What is a frog's average lifespan?

A frog's lifespan ranges from five to 16 years, depending on the species and whether the frog lives outdoors or indoors. The majority of tadpoles, the young of outdoor frogs, succumb to predators before fully metamorphosing into frogs at 12 to 14 weeks of age.

Outdoor frogs that survive to become adults live between five and eight years. Depending on the species, tree frogs housed indoors can live for 16 years. The red-eyed tree frog, the species most commonly kept as a pet, lives for an average of five years in the wild. Gray tree frogs live five to nine years in the wild.
