When do frogs lay eggs?

In the United States, frogs normally lay eggs in the spring. In warmer climates, such as Australia, frogs lay eggs more often. In North America, during spring months, the female frog releases her eggs into the water. The male frog then releases his sperm to fertilize the eggs.
The frog eggs hatch into aquatic larvae with tails and gills. These larvae are called tadpoles. Not all frogs follow this pattern of egg laying. Some frogs have internal fertilization, and other frogs give birth to live young. Adult frogs have semi-permeable skin, which makes them susceptible to dehydration. This is why frogs live in moist or humid habitats.
