Too much sugar from any food can be fattening, even if it is from fruit, explains AuthorityNutrition.com. Fruit can be healthy, but eating too much fruit that is high in sugar can lead to weight gain.
According to the American Heart Association, men should have no more than 36 grams of sugar a day and women should have no more than 26 grams. Grapes, Bananas and Oranges are some of the high sugar fruits, while blackberries and strawberries are some of the lower sugar fruits. Anything in access though can be detrimental to health and weight. In comparison to junk foods, however, fruit is an ideal substitution.
