Where does fuel come from?

Liquid hydrocarbons come from fossil fuels. Other alternative fuels may come from plants, gases or a by-product of oil drilling. Fossil fuels are non-renewable sources of energy, while alternative fuels may be better for the environment.
Liquid hydrocarbons are petroleum fuels. Some examples of fuels that come from plants include bio-diesel, which is sourced from sunflower and soybean crops. Pure plant oil fuel is less common at gas stations. It is sourced from the oils of plants such as palm. Several natural gases can be used to create fuels, including bio gas, which is produced during the breakdown of organic material into methane gas.
