What is the full name of Texas A&M?

Texas A&M has been the full name of the co-educational public college, which is based in College Station, since it gained university status in 1963. A&M references the school's past in mechanics and agriculture.

The college was initially founded in October 1876 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, teaching a limited range of courses based on agricultural and mechanical skills, as well as military training and tactics. When the college gained full university status in 1963, it chose to retain the letters A&M as a symbolic link to the college's history and traditions; however, these letters no longer individually stand for anything.
