A full-scope polygraph combines two polygraphs to determine whether an individual is telling the truth about his lifestyle and his loyalty to the United States, as explained by the Law Center, P.C., that specializes in security clearances. A security clearance is required for individuals who have access to sensitive government information.
The first test included in a full-scope polygraph is the counter-intelligence polygraph. The questions in this exam center around the test-taker's contacts with individuals outside the United States. The second test is a lifestyle polygraph, which asks questions about the individual's private life, including possible drug use, gambling or addictive behaviors.
