What is the function of the spermatic cord?
By Forinfos - 12/03/2026 - 0 comments
A spermatic cord is made up of fibers and tissues that connect to and support each of a man's testicles. When a man ejaculates, semen passes through each spermatic cord, which also supplies blood to the testicles.
Spermatic cords contain the vas deferens. They extend from the inguinal rings, or openings of the bladder, into the scrotum. If a testicle rotates within the scrotum, it risks cutting off its blood supply and irreversible damage. Hernia can occur if the abdominal cavity protrudes into the spermatic cord. Surgery can correct both problems without affecting a man's fertility or ability to ejaculate. Spermatic cords are not cut during a vasectomy; instead, the vas deferens are severed.
