What is the function of vascular tissue?
By Forinfos - 14/10/2025 - 0 comments
Vascular tissue transports water and nutrients throughout a plant. There are two types of vascular tissue. Xylem is used for transporting water, and phloem is used for transporting nutrients.
Several types of cells make up xylem tissue, including parenchyma as well as the tracheids and vessel members, two cell types that specialize in transferring water and minerals. Tracheids and vessel members are referred to as tracheary elements. Phloem vascular tissue contains parenchyma and has two types of cells that assist in the transport of food: sieve-tube members and sieve cells. Sieve-tube members are more specialized and are present in advanced flowering seed plants.
