Is a fuse panel the same as a fuse box?

A fuse panel is an incorrect term for a modern electric circuit breaker, which is what replaced the outdated fuse box. The general purpose of the two are the same, but the technology used to accomplish the job is very different.

Fuse boxes were implemented in older homes and were referred to as fuse boxes because they made use of actual fuses that needed replacement if blown. Modern homes built after the mid-1960s began to make use of the modern electrical circuit panel, often mistakenly called a fuse panel.
