Gatorade can be damaging to health if consumed in excess. Some of the negative side effects of drinking too much Gatorade are weight gain, vitamin toxicity and hypertension.
Every 32-ounce serving of Gatorade has 200 calories that may be stored up as excess fat if one drinks too much of it. The beverage also contains enhanced vitamins and minerals that are meant to be consumed in small amounts. Ingesting too many vitamins can cause fatigue, blurred vision, headaches and nausea. The sodium content of Gatorade is high, and when consumed with other salty foods, it puts the body at risk of exceeding the daily limit of sodium intake. Too much sodium can cause high blood pressure, strokes and heart attacks.
