Is the General Electric furnace energy efficient?
By Forinfos - 28/12/2025 - 0 comments
General Electric furnaces are unlikely to meet energy efficiency standards in effect as of 2015. GE's climate control division was purchased by furnace manufacturer Trane in 1982, so any GE furnaces still in use are likely to be older with less efficient designs.
Modern direct-vent furnaces burn much more of the gas or fuel oil input into them than older furnace designs, achieving average fuel use efficiencies of 95 percent or more. In contrast, older furnaces, including most GE models, are unlikely to achieve efficiencies above 65 percent, even when in perfect working order. As most GE-branded furnaces are several decades old, their efficiency is likely to be even lower than this estimate.
